After breakfast we set off for a tour of the Tarn Gorges. First stop was a ‘Panoramique’ on the way to Meyreuis – Wonderful views back down the Gorge and then out pop a couple of vultures for a quick display of gliding techniques. Over the high pastures to Meyreuis for coffee and a pleasant walk, then off riding around the east side of the area to Ispanac for lunch. Another picturesque village and we are surrounded by Saturday bikers for lunch, one table reserved for the helmets. It’s a bit like visiting the Cat and Fiddle, at home, in Derbyshire except we are sitting outside the cafe instead of huddled around a cup of hot coffee inside the pub. The area very much reminds me of Derbyshire without the speed cameras or the traffic.

We return to Ste Enimie At around 2.00 pm and its full of bikers – it’s the French equivalent of Matlock Bath (again, back home in Derbyshire).
We park the bike and go for an ice cream and then decide to climb up the side of the gorge to ‘The Hermitage’, a very steep climb from the town. Having accomplished our mission we pop into a local bar for a well deserved glass or two of wine.

It’s nice to spend a couple of nights in a place like this, soaking up the local atmosphere. A recommended spot for you would be bike tourers. Ate our meal ‘A La Terrace’, beautiful surroundings but got a bit cold later on (just like being at home). Went for a walk to the music festival which was a bit crappy, but hey, we are on holiday!
